$10 Indian Head Gold
The $10 Indian Head Gold Eagle was minted between 1907 and 1933 and is among the most artistically acclaimed U.S. gold coins. Crafted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens under the direction of President Theodore Roosevelt, this coin introduced a distinctive portrayal of Liberty wearing a Native American headdress—a design both unique and symbolic.
The reverse depicts a strong, left-profile American bald eagle standing on arrows entwined with an olive branch. Initially released without the motto “In God We Trust,” public demand led to its addition from 1908 onward.
Produced at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints, the Indian Head Gold Eagle saw fluctuating mintages but remains highly collectible for its design innovation and historical significance.
